Metrics and press make open-label article in PAIN a home run
Our Portuguese colleague, Claudia Carvalho, has received remarkable news from the publisher of PAIN (the journal in which her article “Open-label placebo treatment in chronic low back pain: a randomized controlled trial” appeared in October, 2016. They say that her article was among the top 25 articles accessed online in 2016, with over 1200 full-text article views (an even greater achievement considering that her article came out late in the year). Furthermore, they refer to 170 news stories and 150 other articles that mention the study. To see more metrics click here.

Society for Interdisciplinary Placebo Studies (SIPS) is formed
At a recent conference in Geneva, a group of researchers got together and decided to form an organization with the purpose of bringing together scholars interested in the placebo effect and related phenomena. Thus PiPS’ cousin, SIPS, was born. To learn more and become a member, visit SIPS’ website.
